Report by Dr. Terry C. Newman on
Nutrition Against Disease and The China Study

Abbreviated Overview
The largest epidemiological study in the history of mankind was performed in China in the 1980’s led by PHD nutritionists from Cornell University, Oxford University and a very large university in China; the study also included other academic institutions.
This amazing study focused on approximately 60 Chinese provinces. In one province, too impoverished to eat animal products, researchers found significantly reduced rates of cancer and other diseases. However, the prevalence of certain cancers was still identified. Further investigation confirmed that individuals in these study groups were missing certain vegetables in their diets containing specific phytonutrients which serve to prevent and/or mitigate specific cancers. These findings demonstrate the importance of not only avoiding animal proteins, but also the importance of eating a broad variety of vegetables to prevent cancer and other diseases. The more animal protein based a diet, the more disease; the more vegan based a diet (no animal proteins, including meat, eggs or dairy) the less disease.
This study, as well as subsequent studies, have confirmed the underlying cause for most cancers and many diseases common to man. Carcinogens are ubiquitous in our diet and environment, so, we need to work to minimize and neutralize them. When we eat an animal based protein diet carcinogens are exacerbated in our bodies; when we eat a vegan based diet, carcinogens are minimized.
The book Reversing Diabetes by Dr. Neal Barnard details how to reverse Diabetes Type II. Diabetes is a serious disease which can be prevented and reversed with a vegan diet. Individuals who are diagnosed with Type II diabetes are not deficient in insulin production; their cells simply fill up with fat preventing insulin from entering cells. A vegan diet clears the cells of fat and diabetes is reversed.
John Robbins, son of the Baskin & Robbins family, discovered a community in India whose health is above average and who spend approximately $350 per family per year on health care. Their good health is due to a vegan based diet.
Dr Dean Ornish’s studies proved atherosclerosis can be prevented and reversed by adopting a vegan diet
There are many delicious ways to prepare vegetables, which come from cultures around the world. Vegan recipes are easy to find on the Internet and in vegetarian and vegan cookbooks. Vegetables consumed raw, uncooked, have the greatest positive benefit to cells.
My goal in sharing this information is to encourage individuals (especially doctors,) to read The China Study and Reversing Diabetes. I sincerely believe, if health officials would take this message seriously and disseminate it broadly, the health status of individuals worldwide would improve exponentially. Additionally, a healthy diet could have a major impact on health care costs and the quality of life for all.
This website, NutritionAgainstDisease.com elaborates on the study noted above and details my personal effort to educate our Congressional Senate and House MD’s, the Secretary of Health and the Surgeon General about The China Study and Reversing Diabetes. I am travelingl to New York City to encourage health authorities at CNN & Fox News to take a serious look at these studies.
